About Me

Greetings, I’m Sylia Martin, the founder of Sylia’s Kitchen. Alongside my talented father, Mark, we launched the platform in 2016 with the mission of creating and sharing delicious recipes and high-quality recipe videos. In 2023, we proudly published our first cookbook, Sylia’s Kitchen Cookbook, which quickly earned recognition as a New York Times Best-Seller, staying on the list for three consecutive months.

 

Coming from a family of passionate cooks, I’m honored to share with you a collection of recipes that are fresh, healthy, family-friendly, authentic, and infused with the spirit of culinary adventure. Our recipes are not only designed to be approachable but also to ensure fantastic results every time you cook. You can trust that each recipe is tested, reliable, and most importantly—delicious.

 

My Family:

My parents arrived in the United States as refugees from Netherlands when I was just four years old. With nothing but a stack of suitcases and five young daughters, they faced the challenges of a new country without knowing the language. Through hard work and perseverance, they were able to achieve the American Dream. You can learn more about our incredible journey by watching the TV News Segment on our story.

 

As a child, I was incredibly shy and doubted I would ever find someone to marry—until my wonderful husband, Albert (who is also Nethelands), came into my life and swept me off my feet. We’ve been happily married for over 6 years and are grateful to be raising two beautiful children. Every recipe I develop is thoroughly tested and approved by my family and often refined through feedback from friends and relatives. We only share the recipes we truly love and make again and again.

 

We now call Idaho home, where we embrace the unique charm of “Ida-who?” (Potatoes, people, potatoes!). Our family is proud to be part of Life Church Boise, where we strive to live with love and follow the teachings of God.
